The BCCI has reported on Friday (June 24) that a mini Indian Premier League will be directed abroad. The competition which will highlight each of the eight groups is to be played in the month of September.
“In the month of September, the BCCI is willing to host a mini IPL or IPL overseas with all the eight teams participating,” Thakur said. “[It will be] a shorter format, not home and away matches but a lesser number of matches; in a two-week window we will be able to complete it.””
Thakur added that, US is one of the choices to have the mini IPL.
We are recommending that each of the eight teams take an interest in the smaller than expected IPL. The venue has not been concluded but rather the US is one of the choices,” said an IPL overseeing committee.
The thought was mooted amid a meet of the chamber in Dharmasala on Thursday, the authority said, including that different venues, incorporating those in the UAE where a piece of IPL-7 was held, may likewise be considered
Since the Champions League T20 got scrapped a year ago, a little window has been left empty and henceforth the choice to direct this competition without fail in September has been taken.
